dc.description.abstractThis task deals with alternatives for the improvement of E39 between Stormyra and Flauglia in Heim municipality, Trøndelag. The thesis presents alternatives of varying interventions that will be assessed in consequence with cost-benefit analysis and detailed design of a final choice alternative. The thesis has been designed by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and carried out by the students Basel Nazim Al-Ibrahim and Steinar Hovde at NTNU in Trondheim. The internal supervisor is Nils Kobberstad while the external supervisor at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration is Amund Bach Stranden. The task aims to present a proposal for road alignment that best solves problems related to accessibility, reduces the number of killed and seriously injured, and safeguards local interests. In total, five alternatives have been prepared which are measured against the current situation: Concept 0+: Widening of the road and smaller traffic safety measures on existing road Concept EvT Northern: Improvement to H1 standard, with tunnel north of Dyrgrova. Concept EvT Southern: Improvement to H1 standard, with tunnel south of Dyrgrova Concept NvT Northern: E39 in a partly new alignment, with tunnel north of Dyrgrova. Concept NvT Southern: E39 in a partly new alignment, with tunnel south of Dyrgrova. Alternatives are assessed based on net benefit per krone invested, non-priced consequences, achievements of social goals, and specified requirements for development. The final ranking gives NvT Nordre the best rating, with EvT Nordre second best. NvT Nordre had the best net benefits per krone invested, the largest reduction in the number of people killed and seriously injured, and had the second-best reduction in travel time.en_US
